Travelling in Fashion
It’s always exciting to be traveling whether it is with a group of friends or if you are going it alone. For women travelers, there are certain things that make it more risky to travel when there are no males present simply because in a lot of cases, they make better targets for certain types of crimes even though men too are targeted when tourists. Here are a few tips for women who are traveling to a destination where they haven’t spent any time before.
Research the area extensively before going there. Certain places are beautiful and seem like great vacation spots, and may well be, but you should always know as much as possible about the place before you get there. These things include local customs, how their culture reacts towards women (some countries still treat women as unequal), the crime rate, the most popular types of crime, best places for currency exchange, and various behavior that may be expected or not tolerated.
Avoid telling too many people that you are traveling alone if that is indeed the case. You can never be sure when to trust someone and if the wrong person gets that information, you may be setting yourself up for trouble. Travel in groups if possible when going from place to place. If you think you are being followed, don’t return straight to your place of accommodation until they have gone.
Have your passport information and other identification information written down on a piece of paper and placed in a different location than your passport in case the actual document is stolen. For example, if your passport is in your purse, keep the number in your pocket. If you have a safe in your room and you don’t need your documents, for example on resorts, keep your documents locked in the safe or keep your passport with you and have the number in the safe.
Don’t wear too many name brands such as Versace, louis vuitton, pandora and nomination or many other brands that draw attention to you, as they may believe you to have a lot of money. Personal items such as jewellery, charm bracelets, keep to a bare minimum; again it can give off the wrong impression.
